Charles Jamieson MFA PAI PPAI

 

 

Scottish painter Charles Jamieson trained at Glasgow School of Art between 1969 and 1974. Awarded both a travelling and a study scholarship, he progressed to post-graduate studies in art and drama at TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. On returning to the UK Charles established a career in the Arts. Over the years he has acted in theatre productions, television and film, but painting remains his true love.

Charles has had solo, two-person and 3-person shows at many prestigious galleries including Thompson’s, and he regularly participates in mixed exhibitions. His most recent exhibition at Thompson’s London was ‘Observing Life’ in June 2018 featuring scenes from about Scotland, England, and the West and Northeast United States.

Jamieson was nominated by The Herald as “one of 50 Scottish Artists to invest in”, and he is included in The Dictionary of Scottish Painters 1600 to the Present. Charles Jamieson has played an active part in arts administration. He co-founded the Aspect Painting Prize in 2003, and is a past president of Paisley Art Institute.

A talented photographer, he was commissioned by Frances Lincoln publishers for a book of photographs of Glasgow. He also had a touring exhibition of photographs of Cuba.

His work can be found in collections around the world including Ernst & Young, Prudential, Clydebank Museum, Aspect Capital, Caledonian Breweries, Lord MacFarlane, John Le Carre, Harry Enfield, Keeley Hawes and the Kuwait Royal Family.
