Richard Whadcock

Based in Lancing, West Sussex, Richard studied fine art painting/ printmaking firstly at Bristol Polytechnic and then went on to do his Masters at the Royal College of Art in 1989-91. He set up Chartwell Road Studios in Lancing in 2017.

His works deal with the South Downs landscape, trying to capture its ever-changing dramatic atmosphere from silent stillness to squally days. Work has been collected by people such as Eric Clapton, Anthony Howell, Howard Donald of Take That and the Rothchild family. All the works are oil on canvas or panel and studies in charcoal. Richard is also represented by the Northcote gallery in London where he has had solo exhibitions and has work represented in various national and international collections.

Richard specialises in atmospheric landscape paintings. His contemporary landscape paintings explore the South Downs and East Sussex coast.
