Ollie’s main areas of interest are Urban environments, Interiors, People, and Still Life. He is intrigued to find ways ways to convey light and movement through his work and is not interested in perfect edges and shapes, and absolute verbatim representations. Too many “perfect” edges make him feel uneasy. Instead he adopts an approach that conveys a sense of life, vibrancy, and the essence of the subject.
Through his work, he explores various rendering techniques, often incorporating a degree abstraction or disintegration, happily engaging with the imperfect. Everyday scenes and objects may well be taken for granted as boring or insignificant. He tries to capture an ephemeral moment of interest, a briefly glimpsed moment of beauty or excitement.
Ollie works from his studio on the Heritage coast, in the county of Suffolk, UK.
