“I walk each day at sunrise and sunset with my dog through the landscape and along the coast. Watching the light shift and dance has been my subject matter for some time andserves as a metaphor for human interactions about love, loss, and hope.
I work intuitively on several paintings at the same time, which allows me to see what is working and expand on ideas. I don’t have an end point in mind but see the development as a journey of colour, rhythm, and space.
I build up glazes of paint, drawn marks and hand- painted collage, sanding into the surface to reveal glimpses of hidden marks and suggested shapes. As each piece develops, I then take a more critical approach, refining areas whilst keeping the energy of the initial marks. The work is finished when the balance and harmony feel right'”
