Philip Shaw
Wiltshire artist Philip Shaw is celebrated for his detailed wildlife works and simple characteristic portraits of children.
Philip owes much of the inspiration for his wildlife painting having spent 10 years working in Africa, including Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan. His journey starting out in the Chyulu Hills where Hemingway wrote the ‘Green Hills of Africa’ and where Philip first learned to track wild animals with the Maasai. He returned to the UK where he co-founded Savernake Knives the British manufacturing company.
Having always doodled and painted Philip’s career spans book illustrations reminiscent of EH Shepard and commissions through his Tall Chin Illustrations.
Philip lives in Wiltshire with his wife, the artist Georgie Weedon and their daughters, he draws inspiration from his family, the English countryside and his rich African experiences, infusing his work with warmth, nostalgia, and a sense of adventure.
