Landscape Painting with Oils & Palette Knife
with Rupert Acker
Thursday 27th February 10.00am – 4.30pm
Course Fee – £120 including a homemade lunch
Rupert works in oils with palette knife, and has exhibited some of his bold and gestural landscape paintings in our autumn exhibition. This workshop is a great opportunity to see how versatile palette knife painting can be. Rupert will take you through the process of painting directly from the landscape, using oil paints quickly to capture the colours and light, and encourage loosening up and spontaneity. No painting experience is needed just a willingness to give it a go and put paint to canvas. A list of materials will be emailed to you upon booking.
Rupert is a Cotswold based artist based in Painswick, Gloucestershire. He says “I walk the valleys and hills, drawing my inspiration from the woods, meadows and hedgerows, painting ‘en plain air’ when possible. My aim is to capture the effects of the light on the land through the medium of oil paint with a palette knife.” “I am a self-taught artist with my love and understanding of the countryside underpinned by reading land management at the Royal Agricultural University, and throughout my life living and working alongside farmers and foresters.”
